The south side of Chicago. I grew up in various places on the south side of Chicago. From midway to Cicero to Garfield ridge. I wouldn’t say to me that my neighborhood made me who I was because it didn’t. What makes you who you are today are your actions and the events that happened to make you who you are to this day. There’s parts of Chicago that are a violent area, but there are also a lot of things you can do to stay away from that negativity. That’s is why I say your actions reflect and shape who you are. You can’t use where you grew up as an excuse to who you are today. Currently the area I live in is Garfield ridge. This area seems to have a wide variety of ethnicity’s ,but it’s as if we are all in segregated in blocks. Me personally I like a mix of people. And I don’t mind being around anybody, they just have to have good vibes and a positive outlook on life. What I noticed in the 4 years I’ve been living in Garfield ridge is that there’s a lot of Poverty and things going wrong like prostitution. I’ve never really noticed it till I started working at McDonald’s. Now me seeing that out in my neighborhood isn’t going to shape me to be a prostitute. Now recently this month I had seen this girl who graduated 2 years ago from me from high school, she was out in the street being a prostitute. So I believe it’s all in the mindset and events in your life that make you who you are.
